Q: mustang for racing please read details?
hi, i found a 67 mustang for sale, the ad said that the gears of been changed out to a lower ratio for more power. it has been set up for racing. then the part i don’t understand, it said it has a bump shifter installed, i don’t know what this is? what is a bump shifter (the car is an automatic) please help

A: The shifter can be changed, but as the other answer said, it is a shifter which allows you to put the car in first gear (all the way down towards you) and as you accelerate and want to upshift, you just “bump” the shifter handle forward allowing the transmission to shitf into the next higher gear. If it is a 3 speed, then you would “bump” it twice to reach 3rd gear.

Usually these are used for drag racing type setups. You can place it in “drive” (depending on how the tranny was built) and it will shift like a normal automatic.

If you want to show off, then pull the shifter handle all the way down towards you into first gear, mash the gas and bump the shifter foward for the next gear when you reach shifting RPM. Same for the 2nd to 3rd gear shift.

Have fun and don’t wreck your car, those are getting expensive and hard to find!

Q: does anybody know if ther is a good mustang gelding for sale somewhere around Illinois?
i already have a paint horse that i ride but my dad likes to ride to but we only have one horse. We would like to get a mustang but i cant really find any. we are looking for one that can go to speed shows, go on trails, do fun shows, and to just ride around. Please help me find one. It doesnt have to be in Illinois but in a close by state.
mtad i have looked a lot of places on horse sites but no everywhere. But if u could look some places to that would help. everytime i find a mustang that i like it does pleasure.

Q: I have 2000 Mustang GT for sale, I am selling it for 5,000 dollars.?
Thing is that i don’t know which of this two are miles T 296.1 or 101215.6? Also, Car is in good conditions inside and out. Just a little scratch in rimbs which i accidently hit on sidewalk, but is not really noticible.

I have to waste about 30 or 40 bucks on gas on this car over week, and gas price is a little to expenserive right now.

A: That’s a pretty good price. You could probably get more. Whats really wrong with it? You aren’t sure if you have gone 296 miles or 101,215 miles? I’m sure I would trust you to take care of a car if you cant even figure that out.

Q: Older Mustang identification?
Saw a Mustang for sale recently. Seems to have the body of a 70 era Mach 1 but has a grille badge similar to a ‘67. I know that the badges on the Mach 1 were the smaller 3 stripe/pony offset. Anyone have any ideas about this?

different models had different grill treatments and aux lights.. but the body’s run 2 years, until 71-73, 65-66, 67-68, 69-70

Sometimes the owners modifiy them to look more like the Shelby’s..which have their own styling cue’s..

Q: How much is auto insurance for a 2004 mustang coupe? 16 year old male?
I just turned 16 and I want a 2004 mustang that is for sale. It is a really good deal, so i was wondering how much auto insurance would be a year. I am a male, and I live in Texas. My dad is willing to pay up to $1500 a year. Please help me! Thanks!

A: Mine was about twice that when I first started driving. That was with waiting until I was 17 to get my license, a good student discount, a discount for drivers education, and liability only insurance on a 12-year old 4-door car.

Four years later, I’m driving a newer car(‘04) with a bigger engine, although still four door, with full coverage insurance and have had no accidents or any other moving violations since I got my license. My insurance is still in the neighborhood of $3000 a year.

Based on my own case, I don’t think that any 16 year old will be able to get insurance on a Mustang for anywhere close to $1500 a year. The insurance companies look at a young male driving a sports car, and see a huge potential for accidents.

The best thing you can do, though, is have your dad call his insurance agent and get an actual quote, rather than relying on what some random guy on the internet tells you.

Q: Engine Swap……will a 5.0 fit in a 95 v6 mustang and will that tranny fit the 5.0?
i have a 85 mustang gt with a carburated 5.0l engine and there is 95 v6 mustang for sale with a blown engine, will my 5.0 fit in the 95 and will the tranny fit and work on my engine? what else will i need and need to do this engine swap? Thx

A: it will be a big project and time consuming as well but you can do it,you will need to use the older trans if you want to stay with the carb on the 5.0 i dont believe it will bolt up with the stock 95 trans get new motor mounts for the 95 with the 5.0 go with an after market ignition system,then the fuel issue with the 85 i think has the pump on the block and the 95 has the pump in the tank,so you would have to drop the tanks and bypass the pump on the 95 and run a new fuel line from the tank to the pump,theres alot more than that but its some of the things to do and many people will do it different so it all depends on your budget and patience

Q: Installing Airbags in classic Mustang?
I found a 1968 mustang coupe for sale that I was planning on buying. My dad has vetoed the idea because it has no airbags. Is there a way of installing airbags in this car so I can try to change his mind?

A: Talk with your dad and find out if there can be a compromise of some sort- for example, does the car have seatbelts? Agree with your dad that you’ll take driver’s safety lessons, and sign a contract that you promise to always wear your seatbelt whenever you drive. Ask him if that is acceptable, since the classic Mustang doesn’t have airbags.

Or, you could buy a newer Mustang that already has airbags instead. The choice is yours. Good luck!

Q: Should I buy this 1968 Mustang?
Ok, so im looking for a new car. just sold my ford expedition for 5,000. I found this red, 1968 ford mustang for sale on craigslist for 4500. The paint looks good and the interior looks ok. I was wondering too if I can install a CD player/radio in such an old car. Thanks

A: well all these guys are idiots. especially the dodge guy.

anyway. they do take a lot of money and time to fix them up. but its something thats totally yours and always will be yours. people will see you everywhere you go, and the cost of one will not go down like that one guy said, these cars dont depreciate the second you drive it off a car lot. in fact, the price of classic cars rises everyday because of the demand. new cars prices are dropping. but i would suggest checkin out the engine first. make sure it has one and that it runs. there are so damn many hidden problems that could be there. so yeah, make sure you check it out in person if its nearby.

Q: used car loan for a 1994 mustang?
My friend has a 1994 mustang for sale. Where can i get a loan to buy this car.. I went to Bank of America.com and under used cars it does not give me the option to buy a used 1994 it only gos to 2001..
what do i need to do :

A: Because of the age of the car, few if any banks will make a loan using that car as collateral. You may be able to get a personal or signature loan, and use the money to purchase the vehicle, but financing a 16 year old vehicle will be hard.
